find us Black Mountain is three hours from Sydney and stands 1,232 meters on the Great Dividing Range between Tarana Valley and the Oberon Plateau. To the north is the Mudgee wine district and to the north east, two world heritage areas: Wollemi National Park and Blue Mountains National Park. Further west, within a day's travel, is Mutawintji National park, a genuine oasis of unsurpassed beauty in the surrounding outback desert country, the nearest desert region to Sydney. Our position in the Central Highlands affords us a range of cultural, historic, geographic and seasonal diversity. We are close to deep gorges and escarpments, rivers and streams, native forests, granite monoliths, vineyards, ghost towns, desert and snow. From Sydney by road you cross the Blue Mountains via Bells Line of Road or the Great Western Highway. The tourist road to Jenolan Caves and Oberon passes spectacular Blue Mountains escarpment views. Black Mountain is twenty minutes from Oberon. By rail, the XPT alights at the village of Tarana, on the main western line. The journey takes in glorious views of the Tarana Valley. Tarana is thirty minutes from Black Mountain. There is also a Coach service to Oberon from Mount Victoria railway station. This service is provided by City Rail.
